Shaali Temple Trek with Volunteer Activity

Location: Shaali Tibba, Shimla Hills

Theme: Trekking, Volunteering, and Nature Conservation


Day 1 – Arrival & Trek to Shaali Temple

  • Morning
    • Arrive at Khatnol Village (Base Camp)
    • Welcome tea & briefing about the trek and volunteer tasks
  • Start Trek
    • Begin the 7 km trek to Shaali Tibba (approx. 4-5 hours)
    • Enjoy scenic views of dense forests and mountain ranges
  • Volunteer Task During Trek
    • Trail clean-up: Collect litter and educate fellow trekkers on "Leave No Trace" principles
  • Afternoon
    • Reach Shaali Temple summit (2,874 meters)
    • Rest and explore the sacred temple dedicated to Goddess Bhimakali
  • Evening
    • Set up eco-friendly campsite near the temple
    • Participate in a volunteer session:
      • Tree plantation around the temple area (if permitted)
      • Maintaining cleanliness in the sacred area
  • Dinner
    • Campfire dinner with local Himachali food
  • Overnight Stay
    • Tents / Campsite under the stars

Day 2 – Sunrise & Community Interaction

  • Early Morning
    • Watch the stunning sunrise over the Himalayas
  • Breakfast
    • Hot tea and light breakfast at camp
  • Volunteer Task
    • Help in maintaining the temple surroundings
    • If available, assist local villagers in minor tasks (e.g., water conservation efforts or awareness campaigns)
  • Descent
    • Start the trek back to Khatnol Village
  • Lunch
    • Traditional meal at a local homestay
  • Closing Ceremony
    • Sharing experiences
    • Certificate distribution for volunteer participation
  • Departure
    • Return to Shimla / onward journey
